I have owned multitools since they were introduced.Carried a Wave everyday since it came out. Also have a Wave plus I won in a raffle. I alternate carry every year or so just because. I like the OG Wave as well as the plus.Used pretty much all the features for various reasons. Nice to be able to do basic light maintenance on stuff wherever I am. Would have been SOL a few times had I not had it with me.Recently bought a Wave plus for my kid. He used it just messing around at home, but today used it for the first time out with his Scout troop doing a project. Cut some wooden dowels, filed off rough edges, screwed some screws, cut some cordage with both blade and scissors. He said, multitools ARE really handy to have. No other kid in his patrol had a multitool or even a SAK, so he was pretty proud as he showed them his Wave.Have many multitools from various manufacturers, the the Wave or Wave plus is the one I carry 95% of the time.A very well made product at a reasonable price. I love that the cutting blades are replaceable because they will wear out at some point. I use the device everyday and have no complaints. There are a good selection of tools. My only complaint is that the sheath that comes with the device is not convenient to use. The belt strap is too low allowing the device to sit week above the belt line. The device is also hard to remove from the sheath. I use my old Gerber sheath to carry the tool.Pros: It’s well built. A lot of considerations were taken on the details and it shows. Everything moves smoothly like you’d expect. When you start opening the pliers, little prongs reach out and lock the straight and serrated blades closed via the finger notches, which I think is a very nice touch! You don’t want the knives coming open when using the other tools! Didn’t see any mention of this detail in any of the countless reviews I watched and you would probably miss it if you didn’t pay attention. When you open the pliers, there is a very satisfying slip joint that gives confidence that they are not going to fold back on themselves while using; It’s hard to describe, but its a very cool feeling. Finger pulls for some of the tools are very stiff, which is fine for me, but if you have thin nails or bite your nails, you might not like it.Cons: The scissors are not good. The design is just not good. The are very small and flimsy. Would love them to swap the serrated blade for the Wingman scissors which are not only bigger but the spring works better. Also, it’s heavy! If you are holstering it, cool you’re going to love it. If you plan on pocket carry with it, you may want to get something a little lighter. She’s a metal brick in your pocket! Even that 1.5oz more on the Wingman is a bigger deal than I thought it would be!AUG-02-2022Leatherman has always been a brand I like. It has sentimental value due to my dad using it since forever, but that is also the result of its quality. This product would have been great if it were new and in mint condition. It has signs of wear and tear, rust and gunk in the spaces between the tools. The knife's edge also seems chipped.Unfortunately I sent this overseas, and trying to return it would be more expensive than buying a new one. I hope that I receive some sort of contacto from amazon or the seller. If I do, I will adding to this review in the future.EDIT: SEP/06/2022Leatherman did contact me and provided a reason to why my product did not seem brand new. Sometimes Amazon will accidentally send out a return as new even though this is 100% Leatherman's policy. It sounds like this may be what has happened here. I get it, it happens.Leatherman offered a replacement immediately to be sent. Once the agent got in touch wirh me, communication was fast, simple and effective. I might have had an intial bad experience, but is has now completely turned around. Customer Service was amazing, and I am totally satisfied. I will update once I get the replacement. Hopefully I will continue to enjoy and gift these products to my friends and family; trusting the quality I have always known, and now, exceptional customer service.I have owned several multi tools over the past 30 years from different manufacturers but always find myself going back to Leatherman because their products are top notch. When I gave 20 year old my trusty Leatherman to my son I used this as a reason to buy myself a modern tool. The Wave + fit the bill and has all the tools I needed. I went with the black version and as others have stated. The finish tends to rub off and leave residue on your hands. I ended up rubbing oil over it and wiping it down and now the finish doesn’t rub off. The tools were very tight but affecting worked them in, they are now smooth. Overall I think this is a great tool that should last me another 20+ years.Leatherman’s are verified versatile. I’m a general contractor and Navy Veteran and I’ve used and put these things through the ringer. This is my third one, my last one got taken away by TSA (I forgot it was in my bag), my first fell over board in the Persian Gulf. So these have came really handy so many times. A must have for every trade person, active military, Veterans, and every handy person.I have been wearing a Leatherman of one type or another for the past 20 years. As I live and work in a remote area, constantly hands on, it's essential kit. After recently misplacing a Surge I've had on my belt for the last 6 years, I purchased a Wave+ on Amazon. It went immediately onto my belt when it arrived. The week or so I ran without a multitool on my belt had me feeling naked. After an afternoon of foraging and wild craft with straight blade, opened the Wave for pliers configuration and had the straight blade lock fall out. On closer inspection of tool's build it appears the rivet was not set properly in the manufacture process. To use Leatherman's 25yr warranty I'd need to shell out another 30+ bucks in insured shipping and be without a tool for 2-4weeks. On contacting Leatherman about this, they deferred me to Amazon as it's still within Amazons 30day return policy. Inconveniently it appears as though the Wave+ has now increased in price another 20 bucks (prime version even more) on Amazon. Wow, 20% increase in 3 weeks? As this lock prevents the blade from opening when in plier configuration, it's not critical. If I remember correctly my original Wave from many years ago did not have this feature, so I'm going to live without it. BUT COME ON LEATHERMAN a fresh out of the box "premium tool" I've paid premium dollar for fails because of poor QA? I expect this from much cheaper offshore products not premium price domestic. In my humble opinion this is wrong. I used my Wave+ to cut out a hole in some drywall, rust showed up 2 days later(today, fri June 5th). I paid over 100 dollars for this because I trusted the leatherman brand. If this tool rusts cutting drywall, how will it last 25 years? I'm buying Gerber next time.
