The SDOKEDC SD601D VG10 Damascus Folding Knife Tactical Military Flipper Ball Bearing Point Pocket Knife Yellow Sandalwood Handle Liner Lock Outdoor Camping Survival Hunting Self Defense Multitool is a beautiful knife that could be on display, or used around the house for daily tasks. It arrives very, very sharp. There is a video showing it slicing paper edgewise with ease. This is no joke, I could trim VERY THIN slices this way as the blade is razor sharp. There are some caveats though. There is a fair amount of "play" in the blade. It isn't precision made. It isn't going to fall apart anytime soon, but it also isn't swiss precision if you are looking for that.I also don't love the locking mechanism, which is a fairly simple "push the lock to the side" style, but with such a sharp knife could easily lead you to knick or otherwise cut your fingers. Again, not critical, but not ideal either. The handle is very attractive. It is fairly well made and the blade is beautiful and sharp. It is a good all-around knife with a good bit of extra in the "show" department.I bought this knife for my dad, who collects these types of knives. It will work very well for his intended purpose, which is to put it up on display with his other knives and to use it from time to time to open letters, whittle wood, or open boxes and packages.I would recommend it for that purpose. If you are a SERIOUS knife collector who wants A+ quality, I don't think this knife is what you are looking for - but you knew that already. It is an attractive, fairly well-made, knife with a Damascus steel blade (I'm not an expert, I don't know if it is real but it didn't FEEL like fake to my inexperienced hands) that is beautiful - to 90% of the population, it is a show knife. If you want a knife like the type I compare it to, you will be paying a lot lot more. So for the money this is a SOLID four star knife. If money is no object, then spend more and get more.I hope this review helps. I took several pictures to try and capture the feel of the knife, but please reach out if you would like to know more! Thank you!I picked this up on a whim because I couldn't resist the patterns on the blade. My last pocket knife lasted for a looooong time but sadly it left me several years back so it is nice to have something reliable to carry again. The blade on this pocket knife is both beautiful, and strong. It's plenty sharp too.Construction is very good. The first couple of times I used it I had to open it rather forcibly to get it to lock itself fully open. Now it seems better but I feel like I will need to keep an eye on it until I'm sure we're good. This uncertainty is what is stopping me from rating this 5 out of 5 stars. The handle itself is lovely. I have large hands so when I'm holding it, the middle three fingers are the ones doing the gripping. In hindsight, the size of this handle is no different than my 1970's boy scout pocket knife was, and that got tons of use over the years. So, initial impressions are very favorable. I'll be sure to update this review in the future if my opinion shifts.I'm not really sure what type of steel is in this blade, but I don't think that it would hold up to regular or intense use. It's quite nice to look at, and might be good for a display piece in a collection however. It would also make a nice gift to someone that collects knives or just wants something cool looking with the "Damascus" look. It does open fairly easily, and the handle is comfortable, but doesn't really feel like it would hold up to any really intense use to me. I'll be adding this in to my knife collection purely for its looks. Get it as a gift, not as a EDC for someone.Good quality and beautiful design for the price. Have been EDC for the last 2-3 weeks and the only negative i have is the blade dulled pretty quickly. Seems to be holding the latest wet stone sharpening ok though. Great gift idea! This is a beautifully designed knife from the handle to the blade -- something about Damascus steel does it for me every time. The blade is razor sharp right out of the box and to be honest looks too nice to even use on anything other than paper or boxes.Personally, I know the 67 Layer VG-10 Japanese high carbon stainless steel (Damascus Steel) is extremely durable; however, I don't want to risk damaging it because it looks too nice.My only minor complaint and reason for knocking off a star is that I wish it was slightly larger. Measuring in at 6.89 inches from handle to tip I wish they would have extended the overall length by an inch or two. I have average size hands and it feel slightly small and difficult to grip in my hands -- with large hands, this would probably be difficult to use.
