Description
For years multitool users could choose between one-hand-opening pliers OR one-hand-opening blades. Today, Leatherman has taken these two well-loved ideas and fused them into the first ever, 100% one-hand-operable multitool, the Leatherman OHT. This industry-first tool features spring-loaded pliers and wire-cutters so you don't tire your hand adjusting and readjusting your grip. Handles with visual imprints of the tool beneath make for quick identification. A lifesaving strap cutter and oxygen bottle wrench, threading for common-size cleaning rods and much more make this a one-handed workhorse of a tool. Closed Length: 4.5 in (11.5 cm); Weight: 9.9 oz (280.6 g); Primary Blade Length: 2.37 in (6 cm).

Prefacing this by saying I use this in a chemical plant, so it is often exposed to concentrated acids, bases, and salts. We clean after each use and at end of day. This tool is great, I think for basic use it would last a long time. The lock on the sliding pliers is not sturdy, after a few uses it often becomes locked when not expected, and the tool's one-handedness is lost.Have bought this for myself and some of my team in my plant, we have bought 15 of them over the course of 2 years. I've gone through 3 myself. The materials I wish would be better suited for harsher environments, the design of the tool itself is great, but I destroy these way too fast. I have owned Leatherman tools since I was in primary school almost 40 years ago, maybe some of the first from Cabela's, many many are still around, some having gone to Afghanistan and back. But for chemical environment, this tool is not the one. If it were same design, but made of something better, say Titanium, I would pay a premium for this and outfit my team with these. We tried a few others of the Leatherman, in SS, but the stainless also does not hold up to the salts and bases. In our plant, items of Titanium last through all these exposures.I see many drivers that deliver bulk chemicals to our plant also carrying various Leatherman tools, this is testament to the brand and quality. But their tools as well are deteriorated and I see them falling apart quickly like ours do. There may be a large market segment for this kind of tool in a better material. The tool selection on this tool is well thought out. I use almost all the tools, and rarely have need for something not on the tool. Aside from the lock on the plier not being very sturdy, the rest of the tool really is one-handed, and we enjoy this functionality. If you like the paint scheme, I can say even with the abuse we put this through, the paint holds. I have a box of ones we retired, and all have broken blades, tools, or the rivet holding the whole thing together is popped, but in every one, the paint is intact. Some examples from my desk drawer included in photo. Also, it may be useful to have the blade (the main knife tool) to have a clearly different thumbhandle shape or some other tactile device, so when drawing the tool, it is always clear before opening that the blade is the selected item and not the one on the reverse side. The current design has them nearly the same shape and size. This is a great MultiTool. Build quality is outstanding and it’s USA made to boot. The one handed operation is a plus also. I am able to flick the plier head open with a flip of the wrist. Nice feature. The MultiTool is a Little on the large side, but I bought it for the Pliers mainly which Are awesome of course. Extra large. The extra tools are easily accessible on the outside of the MultiTool and that is very nice. No inside tools which I find more convenient to use.It has 16 tools in 1 which I like. No scissors though, but not a deal breaker for me. The saw is nice, but on the small side along with the regular knife blade. Blade Material is 420HC which is not that great, but it’s doable. Leatherman should have used 154CM there . No exchangeable bit driver but still no big deal. I like the wire cutters which are exchangeable or replaceable and they utilize 154cm material. It does have a serrated blade and a Phillips head screw driver and two flat head screw drivers. It also comes with a seat belt cutter which a nice addition and a oxygen bottle tool which I’ll probably never use. The Phillips head screw driver has some length to it which is great. The best thing about the OHT is the rapid fire deployable plier head which is way cool! American made and build quality is top notch. I highly recommend this MulitTool which looks like to me is geared toward military use, but civilians should have no problem using this either. It’s little on the large size which I previously mentioned, but that again is not really a issue with me, just a little bulky. The price is not too bad at $89 either, just get the Kydex sheath if you buy the OHT!Leatherman makes the best multi tools for two reasons.1) They offer a wide array of tools that fit the needs of most outdoorsmen and workmen.2) They are made in the United States. The OHT is no exception. It will work in your toolbox, on your belt, with your firearms cleaning kit, or your first aid kit. They are light and have a protective finish which are important while you are in the field. Well worth the money.Works as it should. I use it everyday in the natural gas field and it hasn’t let me down yet. Just make sure you lock the pliers in the closed position or it’ll poke a hole in your sheathI have 7 multi tools and this has become my every day..love the sping loaded handles and one hand operation. Shipping was fast. I have been using this now for a few months and under some pretty heave duty use for sure, still holding up strong. Would highly recommend this multi.I own multiple leatherman, this is my biggest one and the only one that doesn't open up by flipping it. When you pull up the pliers it's tricky at first but with a couple tries you can finesse it nicely, it's bulky but as useful as othersIt is realy one hand multitool.I work as a cable tech and it helps me alot.I gifted this to my boyfriend and he loves it. Uses it everyday at work.I needed something "multitool" like to save effort on a developing habit of making many many trips for the wrong tool...I did unfortunately think they were mostly the same and bought a shiny $40 one from tsc which broke in a week....The Leatherman was above and beyond expectation and worth every dollar. The tool selection is comfortable, blades are sharp and handfeel is positive.Edit.After 3 weeks a tip was damaged of the straight blade. With such a simple thing I considered repair myself but with a 25 year warranty I sent it in (why not) its been quite a while and they don't seem to repair, just replace. My beef is thus: I could have repaired it or Amazon could have replaced it, why did I send it back to be replaced and it STILL TAKE 3 MONTHS. Oh and they ship them through BC... nothing going on there... Review stars affected.Bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband and he loves this multitool. I cannot write a review on the use of this product but from a gifting standview it was definitely a great gift. Packaged well and no damage to the packaging or multitool. I'm not too familiar with using a multitool but this one felt like it had a decent weight and the finishing touch on the tool was clean. Great multitool, although its loose and rattling. Lots of play in the pliers..The quality seems alot cheaper than my other leatherman or gerber multitoolsI always have it with me . Great to go fishing with and and even field dress deer with it. Got me out of bind a few times fixing boat motor and quad ! Very reliable and well made !!!
